Happy Gotcha Day/Transfer Day Babies!

One year ago today, our adoption of these three precious babies was finalized when the doctor transferred them into my womb. Rhea and I had flown to Knoxville, TN the day before in order to go to the National Embryo Donation Center for our Frozen Embryo Transfer. Only 3 days later would we find out by a home pregnancy test we were pregnant. Yes, you read that correctly, only 3 days. We knew this might mean more than one survived, but a couple of weeks later we saw on ultrasound that all three of our little ones had survived!

Here are our babies’ first photo all together. God is so amazing isn’t He? Three little lives growing quickly at 5 days gestation. IMG_0601.JPG
Here is our trio today at 4 months.

We love you sweet little ones!!

4 Month Check Ups

This morning we went for the babies’ 4 month well checks. I normally don’t do a lot of baby well checks since we are self pay, but with the triplets being preemies, we need to have them looked at regularly.

They are all on track and all are in the 5-15th percentile for height and weight. We talked about some things to try to get Evan to drop one of his middle of the night feedings. I’ll keep trying until we get there! Here are their stats for today.

The Triplets’ Daily Schedule

Several of you have emailed me asking what a day with the babies looks like. The schedule stays the same pretty much throughout the day since we homeschool and most days we are at home. Even when we are out and about I try to keep their eating times close to schedule and obviously the napping adjusts on the days we are on the go. So, here is how a typical day for the babies goes at our house for them at 4.5 months old:

8:00 a.m. Wake babies, new diapers, get dressed, morning bottles
8:30 a.m. Playtime on playmats & bouncy chairs in family room
9:30 a.m. Morning nap in cribs
10:30 a.m. Evan thinks morning naptime is over-gets moved to the swing
11:00 a.m. Wake babies (if not up all ready), new diapers, lunch bottles
11:30 a.m. Playtime on playmats & bouncy chair (starting tummy time too)
12:30 p.m. Take fussy babies to cribs for 1st afternoon nap
1:30 p.m. Evan thinks it’s time to wake up–move to swing
2:00 p.m. Babies up, new diapers, and time to eat again
2:30 p.m. That’s right! Playtime again. Elizabeth loves this time with babies while Sarah is napping
3:30 p..m. Late afternoon naptime
5:00 p.m. They all wake up at 5:00 on their own “starving” or so they let on.
5:30 p.m. Playtime, stroller rides (since it’s cooling off around her finally!)
6:15-7:45 p.m. This is the fussy & unpredictable time of day. One or more sometimes like a catnap. Other times, they won’t nap but fuss most of the time until bed. I use this time to breastfeed those babies who want and like to. Most of the time, we are just happy to have enough people here to hold the babies and help them through until bedtime.
7:45 p.m. Time for Jammies! If it is bath night, we do it during the fussy time above.
8:00 p.m. Bedtime bottles and down for the night. Well that would be nice, but…
12:30ish a.m. Evan wakes on his own screaming for a bottle
2:00ish a.m. Evan wakes again for a bottle and is moved to swing
4:00ish a.m. Half of the time Evan wakes for another bottle because hey, I’m not feeding him right?
5:30 a.m. One or both girls wake up and are moved to swings
7:00 a.m. Evan wakes “starving” and though I try to hold him off, usually gets his morning bottle early at 7:30 a.m.

So there is the schedule on an average day. How does my average day break down? That will be my next post. 🙂

Sweet Eliana at bedtime

And a pic of the one who just really needs to learn to sleep more at night don’t you agree? 🙂

Sarah turns 3!

Wasn’t it just not too long ago we were in Dallas finalizing her adoption with her frozen embryo transfer? We celebrated our sweet Baby Bear’s birthday in Galveston on our family beach trip.

Sarah is full of love and life and stories to tell. She loves people and talking to just about anyone. She enjoys playing with friends, her cousins, and helping care for the “trip-uh-lets”.

She adores drawing and coloring. Most days recently she is dressed in one of her princess gowns. She is such a joy to all who meet her! We love you Sarah!

The Triplets are 4 Months Old

Yes, it’s been since May since I’ve posted! You can only imagine the level of activity in our home!
The babies bring such joy to our home. We just returned from our first trip with the whole crew. Rhea rented a beach house and we spent a week together with extended family and had such a great time. The babies are growing and doing well. They have their 4m check up next week and I will be able to share their new measurements. I’m curious to see where they are on the growth chart.

They are growing so fast. Emma and Eliana sleep through the night for the most part. Though the last couple of days they have been waking for pacis. Evan still believes he is a newborn, haha! He wakes 2x a night and takes full bottles! They are smiling, grabbing at toys on their activity mat, sucking on their hands, and the girls will “talk” to you if you are up for a conversation.

We have started homeschooling up full swing from a more relaxed summer study schedule. I’ve “scheduled” me blogging time. I want to record the memories and life tidbits from our home as they unfold. So, join me as I share life with 8 kiddos, big and small. Our life is full and we are blessed!
